Levi’s is Changing their Jeans for Us

I said it before, and I'll say it again: all hail Mom Jeans. And it turns out Levi's heard me.

Well, technically, they heard everybody. Vogue reports that Levi's is taking a cue from street style for their new pair of jean — the 501 CT, which stands for "customized" and "tapered." (AKA the two changes most customers make to their classic 501s.)

"As the inventor of the blue jean and the global leader in denim, we have an obligation to continue to balance our iconic styles with new and innovative solutions, which is exactly what we're doing with our new 501 CT," said Levi's president, James Curleigh. "We're seeing a lot of people tapering their 501 jeans — bloggers, celebrities, and customers. It's something that many people at Levi's do as well; in fact, it's one of the most frequent requests that we get at our tailor shops. So the idea behind the 501 CT came from our fans."

And when they say celebrities, Levi's means it — but especially from nineties icons like Winona Ryder, Bruce Springsteen, and Axl Rose, back in that glorious era.

"We have made the waist a little more square, a little less nipped-in than the classic 501, and we've taken a bunch of fabric out of the bum," Curleigh continued. "The leg has been tapered down to the ankle."

So: Mom Jeans. It's happening. They're everywhere. As they should be. And you can pick up these particular Mom Jeans at Levi's now.
