Product Of The Week: ILIA Thru Line Waterproof Eyeliner

ILIA has always had a slightly different idea about what makeup should do. Born in Canada, the beauty brand blends makeup with skincare-minded ingredients, while keeping its formulas, packaging and approach rooted in a more thoughtful kind of beauty. Like its new Thru Line Waterproof Eyeliner, a pencil that gives our eyes a rich, smudge-resistant colour that stays put for (hello!), up to 24 hours. And you know what that means: buh bye to smeary-looking eye makeup.

Along with our newfound stay-put look, the eyeliner’s formula is ophthalmologist-tested, so great for our sensitive eyes. It contains omega fatty acids, which help keep our eyes and skin feeling comfortable, not itchy. It is also replete with avocado oil-coated pigments that give the liner a buttery glide full of saturated colour. Flexible colour-lock film formers help it set into its waterproof, sweatproof and humidity-proof wear. Plus, the pencil is vegan and cruelty free, along with being partly made with sustainable, repurposed coffee chaff.

And (insert drum roll here), there are 10 shades to choose from, so we’re not restricted to just using our favourite dark brown colour “Serif.” There are five shimmer shades in: “Trace,” a honey beige; “Portrait,” an antique gold; “Abstract,” cool bronze; “Flourish,” a copper brown and “Hyperreal,” a warm champagne. The five matte shades include: “Dash,” an indigo blue; “Graphite,” a charcoal grey; “Ink,” a solid black; “Gesture,” a warm brown; and, of course, our go-to “Serif.”

The pencil itself is soft and glides easily across our lash line. It is blendable too so we can purposefully smudge or smoke it out depending on the time of day or night and the look we’re going for.
