The Canadian superstar's unforgettable performance of “My Heart Will Go On” at the 1998 Academy Awards is being immortalized with a new collectible Barbie doll.

Céline Dion’s remarkable return to the spotlight now includes a Barbie doll, and Mattel has chosen one of the most memorable moments of her career as its inspiration.

The toy company has unveiled a new Barbie Signature doll honouring the Canadian music icon, recreating the look she wore to the 1998 Academy Awards when she performed “My Heart Will Go On,” the sweeping ballad from James Cameron’s blockbuster Titanic. The song, which became one of Dion’s signature hits, won Best Original Song that evening and helped cement her place in pop culture history.

The collectible doll faithfully recreates Dion’s elegant, long-sleeved navy-blue gown, designed by Michael Kors, complete with a necklace inspired by the Heart of the Ocean, the fictional blue diamond at the centre of Titanic. The result is a nostalgic tribute to an unforgettable moment in both music and movie history, capturing the singer at the height of the Titanic phenomenon.

“It is a true honor to join the Barbie legacy with a doll inspired by one of the most meaningful moments of my career,” Dion said in a statement. “I hope this doll inspires everyone to express themselves with confidence, follow their dreams and believe in the power of their own voice.”

The release arrives during a particularly meaningful chapter for the 58-year-old singer, who returned to the concert stage last month after a six-year absence. On September 12, Dion kicked off a sold-out residency at Paris’ Plenitude Arena, marking her first full-length concert since 2020 and a major milestone in her ongoing return to performing following her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome.

Dion publicly revealed her diagnosis in 2022, explaining that the rare neurological disorder, which causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms, had affected her ability to sing and perform. The condition ultimately forced her to cancel the remaining dates of her Courage world tour, while her deeply personal 2024 documentary, I Am: Céline Dion, offered an intimate look at her health struggles and determination to return to the stage.

That determination produced one of the most emotional moments of the 2024 Paris Olympics, when Dion made a surprise appearance during the opening ceremony, performing Édith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour” from the Eiffel Tower. Her current Paris residency, which runs through October, has marked another milestone, with the singer opening her first concert with “On ne change pas” before delivering a career-spanning selection of French- and English-language hits. Additional performances are planned for spring 2027.

With more than 250 million albums sold worldwide, Dion joins an impressive roster of music legends who have been immortalized in Mattel’s Barbie Signature collection, including Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Kylie Minogue, Gloria Estefan, Aaliyah and Elton John.

The Céline Dion Barbie Signature Doll retails for $60 USD and is available exclusively through Mattel Creations.
