Joaquin Phoenix Lends Support to TWLOHA

I’ve had a crush on Joaquin Phoenix for longer than I can remember. Needless to say, his stunt on Letterman and foray into rap almost a year ago halted any schoolgirl fancies – that is, until recently. This time last year, viral videos of Phoenix face-planting into an audience member were doing the rounds. Now a new video – featuring a clean shaven Phoenix supporting an anti-suicide organization, have taken their place. To Write Love On Her Arms, an organization founded in 2006, is rallying votes to support funding for IMAlive, an online crisis network they’re hoping to launch in aid of suicide prevention. The video, which also features Liv Tyler and Miley Cyrus, shows viewers how to log on and vote. Abandoning the doom and gloom Haiti-esque calls for support, the video manages to treat a sensitive subject matter with some humour. Cyrus even launches into a Lady Gaga impression, in what we’re led to believe is an attempt to educate Phoenix on recent pop culture. While we may never hear Phoenix’s “brilliant” unreleased rap album, we’re certainly enjoying seeing him back in the public eye, especially supporting a great cause. And laughing and joking. And looking good.   Well…maybe I’ve not abandoned all those schoolgirl fancies…
