Time to start counting the days to the release of Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday fragrance. After posting an image of the bottle last month, details have emerged about how the bottle shape came to be and what the perfume itself smells like.
“They asked me, ‘What do you feel is a real extension of you?'” Nicki said of her meetings with Elizabeth Arden. “And I said, ‘There’s nothing more synonymous with Nicki Minaj than a pink wig. If I could get that on the bottle, that would really make me feel like this fragrance is a part of me — my history and future.”
And so a pink wig it was given. As expected, Nicki was psyched.
“I was thinking to myself, it’s going to be traditional,” she continued. “It’s going to have a regular bottle, a regular top. But I had never seen anything like this. My fans are always anticipating what I’m going to do — they’re used to me surprising them with craziness. I know my Barbz — what I call my fans — are going to freak out about this. It’s like a doll, almost.”
Word on the street is that the fragrance is mostly floral, with notes of star fruit, Italian mandarin, boysenberry, lotus flower, jasmine petals, vanilla, carmalized pear, musks and woods. It’ll be released later this month, and will go between $49 to $59, $22 for hair mist and $25 for body lotion.
