Canadian Designers Create Bathroom Tissue Couture for a Cure

Canadian Fashion got real yesterday (Tuesday, September 30) when 15 rising designers hit up Toronto to participate in the White Cashmere Collection at The Carlu in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

But how the aforementioned designers participated was, as usual, interesting and cool: after being nominated by past designers and contributors, they designed a collection of dresses and one menswear look made exclusively from Cottonelle's White Cashmere toilet paper.

Hosted by CTV Canada AM co-host and breast cancer survivor Beverly Thomson, the show was invite-only and completely packed (unsurprisingly), and shot by acclaimed photographer Koby Inc., an internationally-published fashion photographer.

"The White Cashmere Collection is a true showcase for Canada's best design talent and this year, we are honoured to shine a spotlight on our country's future generation of design trendsetters," said Nancy Marcus, Corporate Vice President, Consumer Marketing at Kruger Products, partner of Cashmere. "The White Cashmere Collection is one of the world's longest running, most successful, Corporate Social Responsibility programs. We are so proud to unite Canada's fashion community with our one-of-a-kind collection that reveals inspiring stories of strength and hope from women who have experienced breast cancer and delivers social good for a cause that is so important to us."

Added 2014 Artistic Director, Farley Chatto: "This annual event continues to support and challenge Canadian designers to create gorgeous garments and stunning accessories from an unusual fabric, for a very good cause. I'm excited and optimistic about the next generation of Canada's fashion designers and honoured to collaborate with Kruger Products and this talented cast of my peers to support women and their families living with breast cancer."
