Fragrance Of The Month: Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Vitae Cologne Forte

We smell like sunshine. Like heady flowers, warm and glowing beneath the summer’s sun. It’s because we’re wearing Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s new Aqua Vitae Cologne Forte Eau de Parfum and we couldn’t be happier.

This feel-good vibe is courtesy of the parfum’s key note, citrus bergamia, a bergamot from Calabria renowned for it’s sparkling freshness that never fails to make anyone who breathes it in smile. We’re no exception. A squeeze of mandarin orange adds an extra sunny layer to the mix before heady floral and solar notes shine through, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance. Sensual musk and creamy sandalwood complete the scent, grounding it with a sense of comfort and harmony. The overall effect is engaging and sun-drenched, like a halo of light that seemingly makes everything wondrous and beautiful.

The last time we fell this hard for one of the French perfumer’s eponymous scents was in 2009 with APOM Pour Femme. It’s heady floral blend was reminiscent of old school Pantene shampoo and kept us in a nostalgic headspace each time we spritzed a little on. Now, with Aqua Vitae coating our wrists and décolletage we’re feeling the carefree warmth of summertime and it’s sense of invincibility. And we’re grateful.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Vitae Cologne Forte EDP, $290 for 70 ml, available online at www.holtrenfrew.com and at Holt Renfrew stores.
