Rihanna Dropped From Nivea Campaign

Rihanna has been dropped as the face of Nivea because the company’s CEO, Stefan Heidenreich, feels the singer’s image is too sexy for the brand.

The singer has been getting a bit of a reputation in the last few months, mostly due to her over-sharing on social networks. Rihanna has posted several risque photos, including one of her making it rain at a strip club, has become known for exposing her nipples in public (seemingly on purpose) and blatantly sings about oral sex. I think I see Heidenreich’s point.

Rihanna first signed on with Nivea in 2011 and the skincare company proceeded to use her song California King Bed in their advertisements. They even gave her funding for her tour. This, of course, all happened before Heidenreich took the reigns.

Rihanna is a no go… I do not understand how to bring the core brand of Nivea in conjunction with Rihanna, he said. Nivea is a company which stands for trust, family and reliability.

To be fair, they did have Rihanna pose nude for her campaign. Clearly there’s been some confusion over at Nivea about what their brand represents.

Rihanna reacted to being fired by, in true Rihanna form, tweeting a photo. She posted a photograph of Heidenreich and said, No caption necessary. Not sure what that means, but there you have it!

Do you think Rihanna is too sexy for Nivea?
