Mindy Kaling has gotten the green light from Fox for her new series, which she will write, executive produce and star in.
Called It’s Messy, the new comedy will be a 30-minute, single-camera sitcom that follows a young Bridget Jones type character trying to navigate both her personal and professional lives, Fox said in a statement.
Apparently Kaling wants to make sure other alums of The Office are involved. The show will be executive produced by her former co-star, BJ Novak. Ed Weeks, Chris Messina, Anna Camp Zoe Jarmon and Dana DeLorenzo co-star with Kaling in the new show, while Bill Hader, Ed Helms and Richard Schift guest-star in the pilot episode.
If all goes well for Kaling, the actress will leave her Office days behind and focus on It’s Messy, which is said to be her ˜passion project.’
