Mariah Carey has never been one to shy away from attention, and she didn’t disappoint when it came to naming her twins.
The diva and new mom chose matching M-names for her newest additions.
Carey, 41, named her son Moroccan Scott and her daughter Monroe. A little bit odd yes, but no more weird than Apple, Suri, Coco or any other wacky celebrity baby names.
As you probably guessed, Carey named her daughter after the iconic Marilyn Monroe, someone she credits fo influencing her career, according to the singer’s blog. Monroe takes after her mother and doesn’t have a middle name.
Moroccan Scott however, is a bit of a different story. He is named after a Moroccan-themed room in Carey’s New York City apartment where her now-husband Nick Cannon, 30, proposed to her. Scott is Cannon’s middle name as well as his grandmother’s maiden name.
The proud parents welcomed their two bundles of joys on Saturday afternoon and celebrated the occasion by listening to her song, We Belong Together after the birth.
Carey’s rep, Cindi Berger told CNN It has been a long, emotional journey for this family, and I couldn’t be happier for all of them.
The path to parenthood wasn’t an easy one for the couple. Carey revealed late last year that she suffered a miscarriage in 2008.
