After more than three years together, Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter have called it quits.
The Friday Night Lights actress and the New York Yankees all-star had been dating since May 2008, and although their relationship is now publicly over, it appears Jeter may have struck out weeks before the world found out.
The pair’s relationship has been under the watchful eye of the world in recent months, but for more exciting engagement and marriage rumours. Both Kelly and Jeter have always been mum when discussing their relationship “ up until a few weeks ago that is.
While promoting her upcoming TV reboot of Charlie’s Angels, Kelly was asked to complete the sentence: I don’t need a man to¦ and was almost too quick to respond.
I don’t need a man to validate me, she told People.
Could she really have foreshadowed the downfall of her own relationship?
Although their love is no more, there’s apparently still some sort of a friendship there at least.
The split was amicable, Kelly’s reps told Just Jared. But they remain friends. They still really care for each other.
Kelly is currently hard at work filming, and Jeter’s baseball career has taken off since his injury. He recently became only the 28th MLB player to cross the 3000 hit mark “ so I guess he’s not striking out everywhere.
Even though it’s sad to see another hot celebrity couple go their separate ways, neither one of them should have any trouble in the dating game in the future.
