Joe Fresh Style has finally launched its first free-standing flagship store and for all you Joe Fresh buffs this means more room and more clothes! Launched in 2006 Joe Fresh Style has developed not only into a brand of clothing but also accessories and beauty products. When the collection launched it was developed to be adjacent to or located inside a Loblaw banner store yet lately there has been great demand for more downtown locations.
On October 13 the company said hello to an all-new market as they opened up shop on Granville Street in Downtown Vancouver. The 14,000 square-foot store (whoa, huge!) was designed by commercial interior design firm Burdifilek”a leading firm in Toronto. The store fits in nicely with its neighbours and is a classic modern white cube that splits on two levels. Large windows fill the two level store that is divided into women’s sportswear and accessories on the main floor and men’s and women’s active and women’s sleep and intimates housed on the second floor.
Vancouver is a location we’d been looking at for quite a while it’s a fresh, modern and youthful city, just like the Joe Fresh® brand, says Joseph Mimran of Joseph Mimran & Associates, also the Creative Director, Apparel, Home and Entertainment for Loblaw Companies Limited. And when this prime location on one of the best shopping streets in Canada became available we had to snap it up.
Placed in the heart of Canadian shopping districts these stand-alone stores are the next step for the fast growing apparel and cosmetics brand and a way for them to branch out to more customers. Currently Joe Fresh Style has over 336 locations across Canada and the flagship acts as the fist wave of locations to appeal to a trend-setting market”I for one would love a stand-alone store in my city! Having these stores appeals to a different client and one that would potentially not shop in a Loblaw banner store.
We knew that for our first standalone location we wanted to create something visually striking that would draw in the urban shopper, many of whom may not have had the chance to visit our current retail locations or who have been travelling a distance to shop our collection, says Mimran. This impressive new store will rival many of the international boutiques on Granville Street in terms of design and product offering.
To celebrate the stores opening sections of Granville Street will be closed on October 16 for a free public concert that will include performances by Marianas Trench, Divine Brown, Stereos and Sweet Thing.
