Jessica Alba Designs Jewellery for (Red)

Jessica Alba has teamed up with jewellery designer Jennifer Meyer for two heart-shaped necklaces that will benefit the (Red) charity. Both designs of silver hoop earrings are available on Gilt.com.

The necklaces are available in 8k or 18k gold with rubies, selling for $280 and $980 respectively. Net proceeds from each necklace will provide nine or 27 months of medication to pregnant women living with HIV in Africa. The medication stops the AIDs virus from transferring from pregnant women to their unborn children.

“We realized that hearts were a perfect metaphor for this project…it’s an easy, elegant design that women can keep close to their hearts,” Alba told WWD.

“We’re both moms so it really hits home,” Meyer added. “Imagine that feeling of transferring something to your child. It’s the worst thing in the world, and there are ways to prevent it.”

“It makes so much sense for us to collaborate on what we love, use the power of our platforms, and amplify what we do to help eradicate one of the worst diseases,” Alba said. “Helping women and children has always been a priority for me.”
