Gone are the days when mocking Heidi Montag was considered socially acceptable. After watching the last season of The Hills, it’s safe to say the maybe-or-maybe not Mrs. Spencer Pratt has gone through a transformation that can’t exactly be seen as rational or completely sane. But now? It seems she’s (at least partially) aware of it.
Having undergone 10 surgical procedures in one day at one point, Ms. Montag has gone on to admit she wouldn’t necessarily do it again: “It’s not who I am. It was a choice that I made, and I wanted other women and people to know, ‘Yeah, I have insecurities and so does everyone, but this is what I did, and I don’t want to lie about it, and I don’t want to cover it up’. I don’t like lying. It’s just not who I am. In retrospect, I do wish I never would have said anything.”
However, while she’s taken responsibility for her insecurities and incidences of bad judgement, Heidi’s also named the late Dr. Ryan as an enabler of her misguided choices: “I was led on by my doctor. I didn’t know how excessive it really was. . . . I feel trapped in my own body. There’s just no fixing it. Dr. Ryan knows the work he did, he knows everything.”
Well, to be honest, that sounds terrifying. It’s just a shame that at such a young age, Heidi Montag had to be a victim of the media, society and the “friends” she surrounded herself by. At the very least, here’s hoping the girls of the world have learned something.
