Did Hilary Duff Get Fired for Being Pregnant?

Hilary Duff was all set to star in the remake of Bonnie and Clyde, but that might not be happening now that the singer/actress has announced her pregnancy.

Because she is pregnant, Hilary won’t be able to start filming the movie until June, but the powers that be say they don’t want to wait that long. Kevin Zegers, who was all set to co-star as Clyde, has also said there are scheduling conflicts and he might not be able to continue with the film either. A Bonnie and Clyde movie without a Bonnie or Clyde? That’s not a good sign.

The producers of the indie film released the following statement to help clear things up.

While production has been pushed several times due to financial, scheduling and other factors such as tornadoes devastating some of our locations, we are currently gearing up to start production later this year. Unfortunately we now faced with scheduling conflicts with our leads Hilary Duff and Kevin Zegers. We were told that Duff would not be available until June 2012 and that Zegers would not be available until January of the new year. Due to our obligations with investors and international buyers it is imperative that we stick to our current schedule. Therefore we are forced to explore other options for the two lead roles. Unfortunately this happens all the time in the world of filmmaking.

It’s too bad that scheduling has gotten in the way of Hilary starring in this movie; it could have been her big comeback! But I’m sure the 23-year-old is going to thrust herself into motherhood and be pretty good at it too.

This will be Hilary’s and her husband, Mike Comrie’s first child.
