Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard to Share a Stage for Summer Tour

Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard are reuniting on stage for a Summer tour. Aiken is dropping a new album on June 1st, titled Tired and True and will be joining his former competitor this July and August for a US tour. The two will be hitting the stage for both separate and shared performances in venues through out the US.

As the winner and the runner-up of the 2nd season of American Idol, these two crooners have definitely taken some time (maybe just a little too much time) out of the limelight. Where have they been these past few years, you might ask? Well, Aiken, as many of you will remember, came out of the closet back in 2008, after the birth of his son Parker Foster Aiken. After all the controversy that surrounded his son (whose biological mother is Jaymes Foster, the sister of famed record producer David Foster), it seems that Aiken took some time off to raise his new baby and get his face out of tabloid covers.

Studdard, on the other hand, has had a slew of R&B records, and has even dipped his hands in a bit of Gospel. He has worked with the likes of Ne-Yo and Gospel singers Mary Mary. Although, it seems that many of his efforts were futile with his record sales declining after just the first week of sales. Studdard also tied the knot back in 2008.

“I couldn’t ask for a better tour mate,” says Clay. “To be able to share the stage with him again is so exciting.”

Both Aiken and Studdard promise a slew of classics and favorites at their concert, a long with some new and fresh material I’m sure.

The tour kicks off July 23rd in Ashville, NC.
