No lie, I’ve been professionally highlighting my hair since I was 18. Actually, when I was 18, I box-dyed it a lighter shade of blonde, but still. So if I do the math, and I don’t really want to, it’s safe to say I haven’t seen my natural shade of blonde in double-digit years. Is it dirty blonde, honey blonde or somewhere in between? My colourist’s guess is as good as mine.
But what we both know is that all of the chemicals I have applied to it three or four times a year can leave my hair less than healthy despite it’s sunshine-like hue. So I’m washing and conditioning in a little extra TLC with Voir Haircare Sunrise Rituals Signature Shampoo and Conditioner.
Pretty packaging aside (I’ll get to that in a minute), this line of Canadian-crafted hair care is formulated with a blend of hyaluronic and lactic acids (yup, just like your skin care), combined with botanicals like Aloe Vera and birch sap to give my hair shine, body and volume, while hydrating and strengthening it. The shampoo also gets rid of any excess oil build-up I may have from not shampooing my hair every single day. I’m an every other day cleansing kind of girl. But I could use both the shampoo and conditioner every day if I wanted. Both contain 90 per cent naturally derived ingredients and are absent of parabens, silicones, artificial colour, mineral oil, phthalates and sulfates, so the line is not harsh on my scalp or my highlights. Yay me!
Now, back to the packaging. It’s pretty for sure with its brilliant shades. What I think is really cool though is that each label is hand-painted in-house by an artist on a canvas and then it’s digitally rendered onto the shampoo and conditioner’s labels (along with all of the other product labels) to give each one a Canadian outdoorsy vibe.
