New York Fashion Week’s most buzzed-about party was none other than Phillip Lim’s celebration for his collaboration with Target. I’ve attended Target events in the past and the major retailer never fails to impress us (Target Canada's launch had a fashion show on a skating rink!). Last night, for the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection, they created an interactive cinemagraph (a digital moving image) that spanned the full length of the space. The image takes you through the entire collection, showing how the pieces can bring you from day to night. It took four months to shoot, with images taken in six cities including Toronto, Dallas, Miami and New York. It was truly amazing!
About the collection Lim says, “One of the reasons I wanted to collaborate with Target is because I felt that together we could create a collection that would inspire – one that is modern and chic, but still very accessible.”
The event was an opportunity for the press and industry to pre-shop the collection. And if the mob last night was any indication of how it will be in stores, you may want to start lining up now. I got there 15 minutes after the party started and it was slim pickings!
Special surprises at last night’s event were appearances from Jessica Alba, Solange Knowles, Emile Hirsh, Alyssa Miller, Maria Sharapova and of course Phillip Lim himself. Check out party images and the collection below.
