SAG Awards Best Dressed

Like Christmas, awards season comes but just once a year. And man, do the stars show up in some expensive designer wrapping.

Everyone who’s anyone turned up for last night’s Screen Actor’s Guild awards. I would dedicate this post to reviewing the wins and losses, had they not been a virtual repeat of last week’s Golden Globes. With a few exceptions, most of the major honours went to the same nominees “ that is, Mad Men, Glee, Michael C. Hall, Julianna Margulies, Monique & Sandra Bullock all took home awards.

So instead, I’ve picked the best dressed of the night for us to fawn over. Let’s face it; award ceremonies may be a little boring, but the fashion sure as hell ain’t!

Glee’s Lea Michele in Catherine Malandrino

Hello, color! Kate Hudson’s recent white choices were undoubtedly chic, but nothing pops on a red carpet quite like a vibrant hue. This green stunner compliments her Tiffany & Co. jewellery perfectly. The only thing this look is missing? A smile!

Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen

Sandra is at last getting some long-overdue professional recognition, which has somehow ignited some long-overdue fashion risks! We’ve seen her in bright purple at the Globes, but this black number with just a dash of blue detailing and an ever-so-sexy slit at the bust takes the cake.

SAG Sandra Bullock

Diane Kruger in Jason Wu

We’ve long admired Kruger’s yummy Canadian boyfriend, and now we can’t take our eyes off this dress either! The German-born stunner rocked this canary yellow gown effortlessly. Not to mention we love asymmetrical shoulders right now!

Carey Mulligan in Lanvin

Adorable Brit Carey Mulligan is one to watch “ especially when she steps out in numbers like this! The ravishing red strapless gown was the perfect blend of elegance and youth, held together beautifully by the pearl/diamond vintage-inspired broach.

Christina Applegate in Roberto Cavalli

The Samantha Who? star is radiant in this icy-blue, plunge neck gown. Did we mention the top of the train and shoulders are adorned with Swarovksi crystals? Combined with her side-swept up-do, this look is a total hit!

SAG Christina Applegate

So there are my top picks. Who did you love? And if trends are anything to go by (e.g. red, like, everywhere, side-swept low hairdos and one shoulder gowns), what are your predictions for the Oscars? Leave a comment and let us know!
