Taylor Swift is Billboard Magazine’s Top Money Maker

Billboard Magazine has just revealed their Top Money Makers list and Taylor Swift is at the very top. Between albums sold and her tour, Swift made a total of $35 million just last year, beating out U2, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne.

The U.S. leg of her tour grossed more than $88 million dollars and Swift, 22, got to pocket $30 million of that. She sold 1.8 million copies of her album Speak Now in 2011. The singer also cashed in on digital music sales and songwriting royalties.

Lady Gaga made it to the number four spot with $25 million and Adele rounded out the top 10 with $13 million in earnings (an impressive feat considering Adele had to cut her tour short for throat surgery).

Billboard‘s Top Money Maker list is based solely on U.S. income, including publishing royalties, concert ticket sales and album sales. The list does not include merchandising or sponsorship deals. So, Swift’s $35 million does not include her Cover Girl deal or earnings from her fragrance, Wonderstruck.

Swift’s latest projects involve the big screen. She stars in the animated film, The Lorax, which is sure to bring in a pretty penny for the singer. The movie grossed $70.7 million the opening weekend alone. Swift is also featured on the Hunger Games soundtrack with the title song, Safe & Sound featuring The Civil Wars.

The young country star has continued her world tour this year. Swift is currently on the Australian leg of her tour and will be heading to New Zealand later this month, where she will finish off her tour and perhaps take a bit of a break. Making all that money is hard work!
