You know a trend has made it big when you start seeing it on every fashion savvy celebrity in Hollywood. Such is the case with the ankle boot trend, which has been going strong since 2009. There many varying styles amongst different celebrities in Hollywood, yet so many of them been able to adapt this one shoe trend to fit their own personal taste. Read on to get a glimpse of the countless ways in which your favourite celebs are wearing ankle boots.
Midi skirt
Both Katie Holmes and Alexa Chung have been spotted wearing ankle boots with their midi length skirts. Katie tends to go for a more refined, seamless look. She wears a crisp white button up with a silky skirt and beige suede ankle boots. While Alexa opts for a more eclectic look, pairing her black leather ankle boots with a plethora on vintage-inspired patterns. Whichever look you prefer, you can’t deny the appeal of ankle boots and midi skirts. 
Evening wear
As great as ankle boots look with a casual daytime outfit, they also can look sensational in an evening look, when paired with the right dress and accessories. Emma stone looks perfectly polished in her 70’s style dress with her spiked heel ankle boots. Michelle Williams is channeling a different era, but still pulls off a great evening look with her mini dress and sleek black leather booties. Both styles are perfect for an event or night out on the town.
Skinny Jeans
Ankle boots and skinny jeans were made for each other, so it’s no surprise that it is often the outfit of choice for celebs day-time outfits. Kate Bosworth, who is pretty much the spokeswoman for the Isabele Marant suede ankle boots (sold out everywhere), wears them with her distressed skinny jeans and a cozy sweater for a day of shopping. Zoe Saldana sports a more embellished grey ankle boot with dark washed jeans and a striped tee. They are both different, but equally comfortable and stylish looks.
Jeans over boots
Another way to wear a relatively skinny jean (but not too skinny) is to pull them over the top of the ankle boot. Miranda Kerr and Halle Berry both wear uncropped jeans with their ankle boots neatly tucked underneath. Halle’s zipper pants work perfectly for this type of look because they allow the pant to fit perfectly over the boot. Miranda has a great look with her casual distressed boots and jeans, which contrast perfectly with her chic tailored jacket and chain strap purse.
Loose tailored pant
Skinny jeans aren’t the only type of pants that work with ankle boots; looser fitting pants can work just as well when done properly. At the Marc by Marc Jacobs fashion show this past fall, Elle Fanning wore her loose tailored trousers haphazardly tucked into her brown ankle boots. Worn with her crisp button up and Cambridge satchel, this is the perfect semi-dressed up look for a daytime event. Diane Kruger wears her loose fitting boyfriend jeans casually with ankle boots and ankle socks, and she looks cozy yet polished.
