Conan Gets the Last Laugh

Conan O’Brien will be returning to late night TV in the fall, after wrapping his “Not Legally Allowed to be Funny on Television Tour”. The move is not altogether surprising – but his network choice is.

It’s been announced the Conan will be headlining a talk show on cable network TBS, airing at 11pm. The slot will mean bumping the popular George Lopez vehicle “Lopez Tonight” to midnight, but he doesn’t seem to mind.

I want to say this, I want to say that I am completely 100% on board with this move, said Lopez. ˜Let’s take the party and make it bigger and take it into the next generation of late night TV. Lets do that! Lets do that! Lets do that!’

Sounds like he’s already going loco for Coco.

In accordance with his contract exit, O’Brien is not allowed to return to the small screen until after September. But that hasn’t stopped everyone’s favorite funny-man from keeping busy.

“In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I’m headed to basic cable”, he joked.

If you listening carefully, you can hear the collective “Hell Yeah!” from Coco fans everywhere. After his swift and largely unfair exit from NBC, Conan has won a special place in the heart of comedy fans everywhere. Now more popular than ever, his new ratings are sure to be through the roof.

Looks like the joke’s on Jay Leno.
