Tory Burch Debuts Her First Fragrance

Fashion designer Tory Burch has just launched her first fragrance, and congratulations if you're a fan of her work, because this is for you.

Described as a "modern, colourful interpretation of the [beauty] collection she has created" and is meant to "capture the casual ease and polished optimism that define her aesthetic."

"Fragrance is a part of my personal history," Burch explained. "My parents each had their favourite scents that are so tied to my memories. When we decided to create a fragrance, we spent a lot of time thinking about what it should be — a balance of femininity and tomboy, citrus and floral, grounded and graceful."

Named "Tory Burch Eau de Parfum," it's got notes of grapefruit, mandarin, sweet bergamot, neroli, and cassis, as well as pink peony, tuberose, jasmine sambac, and sweet alyssum.

"It's similar to the clothes and accessories we design," Burch continued. "Sophisticated but down-to-earth, combining disparate ideas you don't usually see together. The fragrance is the same way."

It's also inspired by her family, in that the packaging is a tribute to her mom's bedroom vanity and the perfume bottles that were on it, and Burch has been open about being inspired by her parents.

"Fretwork was very much a part of their design sensibility," she explained. "It was part of their vernacular, and now it's become a signature of the brand, and the perfect accent for the fragrance."

The fragrance (priced $70 to $122 and available at Holt Renfrew) also goes hand-in-hand with Burch's new capsule beauty line, which includes lip colour ($35), lip & cheek tint ($42), bronzer & blush ($52), and a $52 face brush (which are also available at Holt Renfrew). May the holiday shopping begin.
