RIP Paul Walker

Sad (very, very sad) news came out of Hollywood last night when it was reported (by TMZ — and don't get us started on them, please) that actor Paul Walker passed away following a car crash. Oddly enough, a day after his death was falsely reported on the Internet. (For no apparent reason.)

According to reports, the 40-year-old Fast and the Furious star was leaving a charity event for Reach Out Worldwide when his the car his friend was driving crashed into a pole and tree, and immediately burst into flames. As of now, the name of the other victim and the cause of the accident are being withheld.

Making this even worse, Walker leaves behind a 15-year-old daughter. Understandably, the acting community is crushed.

"All of us at Universal are heartbroken," Universal Pictures said in a statement. "Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and the Furious films, and to countless fans."

Actors Zoe Saldona, Tyson Beckford, and Ludacris expressed their sentiments via Twitter, as did many others.

"Heavy heavy heart tonight," tweeted Olivia Wilde. "Paul Walker was a genuinely good, sweet, kind, laid back, loving person. Sending much love to his family."

And then for a real heartbreaker, Walker's Fast and the Furious co-star, Vin Diesel, tweeted his sentiments too: "Brother I will miss you very much," he wrote. "I am absolutely speechless. Heaven has gained a new Angel. Rest in Peace."

Our hearts also go out to Paul Walker's family and friends.
