At this point, I’m not sure “Peter Doherty Gets Arrested” even qualifies as news anymore, but none the less…
Doherty has been arrested in connection with the death of director Robin Whitehead, it has been confirmed. Whitehead, 27, was found dead in a flat in London where it’s believed she was surrounded by drug paraphernalia. 31-year old Doherty has been arrested on “suspicion of supplying controlled drugs” to the late Whitehead.
Whitehead had been making a documentary about The Libertines, a band Doherty used to front before his repeated drug use caused a rift between his band mates. They had reportedly spent a lot of time together, and Doherty was said to have been “shocked and saddened” by her death in January.
Doherty, who also fronted the band Babyshambles and dated Kate Moss, has had his fair share of run-ins with the law. Seriously, I’m all for innocent until proven guilty, but is there really any “suspicion” that Doherty was supplying drugs? I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that after being busted for doing heroin on a flight, burglary, drunk driving and other drug charges that his moral compass is a little askew.
In addition to previous involvement with drug-related crime, Doherty has also been involved with drug-related death before, too. In 2006, Doherty had a fight with Mark Blanco, who later plunged to his death at a party. This case has never been solved.
Coincidence? Only time will tell. Doherty is scheduled to appear in court in April.
