Patricia Arquette Wears Dress Designed by Her Best Friend to the Oscars

What’s better than a designer friend? A designer BEST friend!

Patricia Arquette had her childhood BFF, Rosetta Getty, design a dress specifically for her. The black and white column dress was an elegant and powerful, statement most especially onstage while accepting her Oscar for her role in Boyhood.

We love the dress because of the strong asymmetrical shape of its top and the unique train that goes over the shoulder. It brings a mood of understated drama to Arquette’s look – not too much but enough.

Rosetta Getty is no novice to dressing celebrities for the red carpet. Back in 2007, her label Riser Goodwyn was seen on Demi Moore and Kirsten Dunst, while Gwyneth Paltrow has worn Getty’s newly launched eponymous label.

However, dressing for Arquette was a better experience for her. “Designing specifically for someone you know so well is the best,” said Getty. “Certainly, it’s easier designing a dress for Patricia because we are best friends. I can end her sentences and vice versa. I know exactly what she feels comfortable in.”

And Getty was right. Looking at Arquette’s past red carpet gowns, she favours a form-fitting silhouette, usually a monochrome palette with barely any jewelry. But considering her win last night, minimal is perfect when her talent took centre stage last night. And that speech!
