“Girls” Meets “Girls Like Us”

If you haven’t gotten around to reading it yet, check out Sheila Weller’s book, “Girls Like Us” — a bio revolving around the lives of Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell and Carole King. Why? Because it’s awesome. Also because it might the movie industry’s answer to “Girls” (literally).

Word on the street that among the actresses reading for the part of Carly Simon are “Mad Men’s” Jessica Pare and “Girls'” Allison Williams, while Alison Pill, Ali Graynor and Olivia Thirby are reading for King. As for Joni Mitchell? Taylor Swift is reportedly on board, which will mark her first official acting gig.

However, despite Katie Jacobs — an executive producer for “House” — being slated to direct, the project still hasn’t technically been given the green light. Here’s hoping, though, that with so many it-actresses already interested, we’ll see an awesome generation of girl power get their time on the silver screen.
