Farrah Fawcett Poster Inspires New Barbie Doll

The late Farrah Fawcett is being memorialized through a new Barbie doll to raise money for cancer. Inspired by an iconic poster from the 1970s, the Barbie is clad in a red one-piece bathing suit as she sits atop a stripped beach towel sporting Farrah’s famous hairstyle.

We’re all very excited about it, it’s a great tribute to her and part of the proceeds go to the foundation to benefit cancer research and help people, said Alana Stewart, President of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation.

Farrah created the foundation two years before she died and her aim was really to help in cutting edge research and to help people that are actually struggling with cancer now, so that’s really the mission of the foundation. It’s really wonderful for her memory and for her legacy and for her fans.

The Farrah Fawcett Foundation will receive a portion of money from each Barbie doll sold.

In addition to the limited addition doll, the iconic red bathing suit that Farrah wore in the 1976 photo shoot was donated earlier this year to the Smithsonian’s National Treasures of Popular Culture and will become part of their permanent exhibition this summer.

The Farrah Fawcett Barbie is available at www.barbiecollector.com for $34.95.
