If the departure of Simon Cowell is the open wound, then Ellen DeGeneres’ latest announcement is a hefty dose of salt.
Fan-favourite DeGeneres announced yesterday that she will no longer be performing her duties as judge, as they no longer feel like a right fit.
It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for, said the comedienne.
Ellen served just one season after replacing the equally humorous, (though for all the wrong reasons) Paula Abdul. She received mixed reactions when it was announced she would be taking over, as she was the only member of the judging panel with no musical experience. But one thing DeGeneres does have in common with Abdul? The on-going feud with Simon Cowell.
She joked with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM, Everyone’s making such a big deal about the tension. You know, there’s been a lot of fun on that panel. Kara’s been great, and Randy’s been great. And I think it was either Wednesday or Tuesday, Simon was great.”
Neither a replacement for Cowell or DeGeneres has been named. Will you still watch?
