Carrie Underwood’s Wedding Weekend

Southern belle Carrie Underwood married long-time beau Mike Fisher this weekend in a lavish “ although private “ ceremony.

The couple wed in the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, against a picturesque backdrop. But any unwanted guests (read: press) were swiftly whipped away via a Sheriff’s car to ensure the intense privacy of the event.

200 guests attended the wedding, among them Faith Fill and Garth Brooks. Underwood, one of the most successful American Idol contestants, was also joined by judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and alumni Paul Abdul.

Mike Fisher, originally from Peterborough, On, invited a few star guests of his own. Team mates Chris Phillips and Chris Neil joined the party, which was said to cost around $500,000.

So who did the bride wear? Reports say Underwood (who now signs her name Carrie Fisher¦cue the Star Wars jokes) wore a Chantilly lace Monique L’Huillier dress. She couldn’t help but gush after the wedding about her new hubby. “We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!”

They weren’t the only couple that tied the knot over this weekend. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt wed in Italy, Martin Lawrence married his long-time love and Lala Vasquez married Carmelo Anthony in Manhattan.
