Maybe we were wrong to think that Avril Lavigne was still dating Brody Jenner, but now that she’s announced her engagement to Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, we understand just how misinformed we truly were.
In what can best be described as history’s biggest surprise (not that we’re exaggerating), after six months together, Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne are getting hitched. The two met in February to co-write a song for Avril’s upcoming album, and sparks flew between the 27-year-old and 37-year-old.
“A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together,” a source said to People.
Chad popped the question on August 8, and according to another source, “he makes her so happy.”
People will be publishing engagement photos in their upcoming issue, including a snap of the ring which is a 14-carat diamond.
No word on whether a Nickelback-Lavigne duet will be released, or how the masses are dealing with the most shocking news in the world.
