Lena Dunham Wins Big at Golden Globes

Last night was a big night for Lena Dunham. Not only did it mark the second season premiere of her hit HBO show Girls, but Dunham also found herself the winner of two Golden Globe awards. The funny lady took home the awards for Best Actress in a TV Comedy/Musical and Best TV Comedy/Musical.

While the 26-year-old struggled to walk to the stage in what I can only assume were her too high-heels and long, not entirely flattering dress, she gave two humbling speeches (that were previously prepared), that paid homage to her fellow leading ladies, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Zooey Deschanel.

To start, facing at the other nominees in this category are women that inspire me deeply and have made me laugh and comforted me at the darkest moments of my life, Dunham said.

While accepting the award for Best TV Comedy/Musical, Dunham made sure to thank a man that was infamously forgotten about in an acceptance speech many years ago — Chad Lowe. For those who don’t remember, Hilary Swank famously forgot to thank her then husband Chad Lowe when accepting an award for Boys Don’t Cry in 2000.

“It took a village to raise this very demented child,” she said. “I also promised myself that if I ever got this chance I would thank Chad Lowe. I promised my mother.”

Aside from the awards show, Dunham’s season 2 premiere of Girls was certainly a success. For those of you who missed it, the episode was full of laughs, awkward moments and plenty of nudity — just the way we like it!
