Kanye West Writes Song and Apologizes to Taylor Swift… Again

With the MTV Video Awards just around the corner, we can’t help but remember the dramatic moments of the 2009 VMAs. Kanye West topped that list of moments when he (in the midst of a drunken stupor) stole the spotlight from Taylor Swift as she won her first Moon Man, telling the world that the true winner was Beyonce.

Of course, as you all remember, Kanye received many disapproving head shakes and he even went into exile for a bit, realizing that he had yet to deal with his mother’s death.

Well, Kanye has emerged from the shadows once again and with a new album on its way, he wants to make good with Taylor once and for all. To show his remorse (or his desire for good record sales), Kanye took to his Twitter account to announce that he has written a song for Taylor as his apology.

I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that’s so beautiful and I want her to have it, Kanye tweeted. If she won’t take it then I’ll perform it for her. He continued on a very emotional tweeting frenzy, professing to the world that he wants to become a better person and hopes to gain back some lost fans in the process.

So, there are a few questions to ponder here. First, what are Kanye’s intentions? He does have an album coming out in the very near future, with a lot of anticipation and buzz surrounding it. It’s possible he is just trying to gain back some fans to help push record sales a bit further. Or, the Taylor Swift incident of the 2009 VMAs is something that he has always felt guilty about and now wants to pay his dues.

The second question to ask about this scenario is, what would a song written by Kanye West, a mega hip-hop artist, for Country-pop starlet Taylor Swift really sound like? It’s an odd mix, but could it work, or is this disaster in the making? Did Kanye reach into his inner Country crooner to pen this song, or did he stick to regular and sometimes unusual Kanye-esque style?

There is a small (or quite large) part of me that is really hoping that Taylor will jump on board with Kanye on this one. It’s completely unusual, unexpected, and too out of the ordinary to not sound intriguing.
