The Reviews are In!

Base Coat:
Kimberly Lyn – Fashion Blogger, TheSoulsofMyShoes.com

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Selfie - Kimberly LynWhen I was a tween my first introduction to nail polish was stealing a bottle of Sally Hansen polish from my mom’s makeup drawer and clumsily applying it all over my nails, cuticles and fingers. A lot has changed since then! It’s been years since I last used a Sally Hansen product, so when a bottle of its new Complete Salon Manicure landed on my desk (Peach of Cake was the shade) I was excited to try it out.

My nails have a mind of their own; some are soft and others are brittle, they often bend and break easily. I have to take extra care to find and use a good hardener and base coat to keep them looking healthy, as well as creating a solid foundation for a flawless looking manicure. The built in base coat and medium consistency of the Complete Salon Manicure polish provides this; it’s not too runny and not too thick, which made it easy to spread on each of my nails. After applying two coats and allowing it to dry (wait time is minimal) my nails imperfections were hidden, the surface was smooth and colour vibrant enough to combat the Canadian winter blues.

Strengthener:
Sara Koonar – Editor-in-Chief of 29Secrets.com

Sara Koonar's Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure SelfieHow upsetting is it when you chip your nail right after you apply your polish? It sucks, right? Well, thank goodness for Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure, because it gives me peace of mind that my mani is lasting all week long. The strengthener helps to reinforce nails to resist splits, chips and cracks.

I applied my fave shade, Kook A Mango, five days ago and I am still chip-free. Plus, the colour is just as vibrant as it was on day one. It is as if Sally Hansen listened to all our nail polish woes and created a product that solved each one. Their patented Vita-Care Technology addresses each issue, leaving me with a fabulous mani. With 49 shades, each under $10, I am tempted to buy the whole lot.

Growth Treatment:
Bahar Niramwalla – Globe & Mail Beauty Expert and On-Air Personality

Bahar Niramwalla's Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure SelfieIt's the start to a busy week and I've got 15 minutes of downtime before I have to move onto my next assignment which means I can either have a coffee or paint my nails. I've got a bottle of "Barracuda" blue in front of me and, after reading the benefits of this Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish I'm getting 10 of those minutes of my life back. This calls for an espresso, stat.

With a built in bottom and top coat for adhesion and a glossy finish, I'm in awe of being able to do my nails in a matter of seconds. The bigger-than-usual brush also makes the application of my pinky nail a one swipe deal and my thumbs no longer take four swipes to complete but, with all of that said, it's the built-in growth treatment that has got my attention.

My nails tend to break and snap as soon as they pass my fingertips, so not needing to apply a separate product to keep them growing is a huge plus. Also, the stronger my nails can get, the better off I am as I'm getting married in two months’ time and I am on a mission to grow stronger, healthier nails for the wedding.  Alas, I'm afraid this perfect Tiffany-blue-box shade has inspired some fear in the fiancé© as I've got some other ideas to adorn my fingers with on the big day of, too.

High-Intensity Colour:
Marissa Anwar:
 Editor-in-Chief of Chic Darling

Marissa Anwar's Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure SelfieI’m the girl who has three to four of the same colour polish. I like having backups especially when I find something I love. I, also, tend to carry two to three different polishes when I’m travelling for work.

While gel polishes are a great option for longevity, they don’t work for someone like me who wants to change colours every week or so. As such, I’m always on the hunt for a polish that doesn’t involve a huge process. I need to be able to apply 2 coats, let it dry, and go on my way.

Enter Sally Hansen’s new formatted line.  The line is perfect for someone who wants to have different colours on their nails, and doesn’t want to touch them up every day or two.  I’m currently on day 5 with Ruby Do, and Red My Lips, and there isn’t a single chip anywhere.  (Yes, I applied both colours on at the same time because I had a hard time picking just one.) That speaks volumes as I’ve done dishes every night without gloves.  Normally I would have to touch up every 2 days or so. It pretty much gives me the peace of mind of a gel polish, without going to the salon or spending time under the UV laps.  That alone is worth every penny.

Chip-Resistant:
Natasha Bruno – Nail Polish Junkie and Editorial Assistant at TheKit.ca

Natasha Bruno's Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure SelfieI had been sporting a long-wear shellac manicure for the past few months before trying Sally Hansen Salon Manicure in Ruby Do. Going regularly for the smudge-proof treatment that would last me over two weeks was such a treat, but alas, I decided that I should probably give it a rest, and let my nails breathe. And I’m pretty sure my wallet thanks me too!

Being so used to salon-perfect, chip-resistant nails, I have to say that I was quite impressed with the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure formula. First off, I loved the vampy wine colour of Ruby Do. I found the burgundy shade was a nice understated dose of color and a great alternative to a classic red.

When it came to the wear, the polish stayed put for a good 4 days until I really started noticing chipping. Pretty impressive considering the fact that I didn’t have to apply a separate base or top coat, and that I can be quite rough on my nails. And even then, the chipping was minimal (See the photo!). No huge chunks!

Gel Shine:
Christie Ressel – Editor of FashionTranslated.com and
Fashion Expert for The Steven & Chris Show

Christie Ressel's Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure SelfieLike most women, I’m always on the run and though I love a good manicure, I don’t always have time to head to a spa. While at-home options are great, I have to admit to my frustration of painting my nails and having them chip and look lack-lustre the next day. Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure is the perfect solution. Not only does it skip the need for a base and topcoat, but it’s fast drying, too. For a busy woman, this is music to my ears!  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve destroyed my manicure from not having the polish dry soon enough.

What I loved the most about the polish was its high shine gel-like finish. My nails looked like I had just been to the spa for a professional manicure, and it delivered a high gloss finish. Another bonus to the bottle is the brush; it’s thick and allows for an even application with no streaks. Does it get any better?

Built in Top-Coat:
Rema Gouyez – Digital Marketer and Beauty Blogger, TheBurgundyBook.com

Rema Gouyez's Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure SelfieWhat's the number one thing that gets me excited about lacquering my nails? The perfect brush! There are only a handful of brands out there that offer the ultimate in nail painting, tools-in-a-bottle and Sally Hansen is one of them. There were no bubbles or flat finish, just silky fingertips lacquered in the beautiful 'Ruby Do' shade. My only wish is that the glossy finish was even more glossy. Don't get me wrong, it's shinier than any other drugstore polish I've tried but my tips are the only thing I like to have looking plastic.

How's the top coat you ask? Pretty awesome. I'm not one to product slam but the chip resistance on this polish (for me) was stronger than my luxury polishes. The staying power, totally chip-free (that is during a period where it was not my turn to the do the dishes…) for five days. That's right, a full work-week of perfect nails. I'll take it!
