Rihanna certainly has a style that's all her own. And, she's finally being recognized for her. The singer is the recipient of the CFDA 2014 Fashion Icon Award.
The award recognizes the impact the recipient's style has on pop culture around the world. Rihanna is also being recognized for her philanthropic work with the MAC AID's Fund Viva Glam Campaign. Rihanna is serving as the campaign's spokesperson for 2014, and has released two limited-edition lipsticks with the cosmetics company for the cause.
“We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory,” Steven Kolb, CEO of CFDA, said in a statement.
When it comes to style, Rihanna follows her own rules. Her fashion sense can have us staring in awe has she walks down the red carpet in a gorgeous gown, or shaking our heads wondering what she was thinking that morning. Whatever the case may be, she certainly provides ample chatter for fashion blogs.
And, she's not afraid to show a little skin. Rihanna is infamous for posting photos of herself in tiny bikinis on Instagram, so we know she has no problems putting her body on display. Sometimes it's in a crop top, other times it's in plunging necklines. More recently, Rihanna put her nipples on display while wearing a fishnet top (with no bra) while attending Paris Fashion Week. If nothing else, at least we can say Rihanna takes risks.
As the 2014 recipient of the CFDA Fashion Icon Award, Rihanna joins the likes of Iman, Nicole Kidman, Lady Gaga and Kate Moss. She will be receiving the award at the annual CFDA Awards on June 2nd in New York City.
