J.K. Rowling Announces New Films Based on the Wizarding World

J.K. Rowling has announced an extended partnership with Warner Bros., which includes a brand new film about the wizarding world she created in the Harry Potter novels. The new film will be based on the Hogwarts text book, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.' The writer makes it clear that the new movie will have nothing to do with Harry Potter's story, but fans of the Wizarding World will still recognize some of the many characteristics that made the original series so successful.

Rowling herself will be writing the screenplay and the film will include the character who wrote 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,' Newt Scamander.

"It all started when Warner Bros. came to me with the suggestion of turning 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' into a film," Rowling wrote on her Facebook page. "I thought it was a fun idea, but the idea of seeing Newt Scamander, the supposed author of 'Fantastic Beasts,' realized by another writer was difficult. Having lived so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt. As hard-core Harry Potter fans will know, I liked him so much that I even married his grandson, Rolf, to one of my favorite characters from the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood."

Rowling goes on to explain that this film is neither a prequel or sequel to the Harry Potter series. It will tell it's own story, which simply takes place in the same world. Rowling revealed the film will take place 70 years before Harry's story began, in New York City.

Muggles may not quite understand just how exciting this news is, but Rowling fans everywhere are ready to get their wands out and immerse themselves in another magical story.
