Ashton Kutcher is Headed into Outer Space

Ashton Kutcher will be taking a little vacation soon, but this time he really wants to get away from it all. Instead of heading to a sandy beach for some relaxation, Kutcher will be heading into outer space.

Virgin Galactic has been offering round trips into space for $200,000 with deposits starting at $20,000. Kutcher is their 500th customer.

Great news today from our Astronaut Relations team at Virgin Galactic: our 500th customer has just signed up! Even better news is that number 500 is Ashton Kutcher, Richard Branson, Virgin’s founder said in a blog post. I gave Ashton a quick call to congratulate and welcome him. He is as thrilled as we are at the prospect of being among the first the cross the final frontier (and back!) with us and to experience the magic of space for himself.

Kutcher will be riding on Virgin Glalactic’s SpaceShipTwo rocker, which is currently being tested at the Majave Air and Space Port. No dates have been specified for the Galactic trips, but they may begin taking off next year.

As you can see… our spaceships are not only very beautiful but are built and flying in the final stages of our exhaustive test flight program, Branson added, linking to an online video. We are guided by safety and so will ensure that everything is just as safe as it can possibly be before we start commercial services — particularly as I will be on the first commercial flight with my kids!

Perhaps the new getaway for a newly single bachelor is to get on a rocket to another planet! After splitting from his wife Demi Moore in November, who was in rehab earlier this year, I’m sure Kutcher is looking to get away from the tabloid drama. Plus, how cool would it be to play astronaut for a while and go into outer space?
