November is upon us, meaning that the best time of year is quickly approaching: 2010 best-of lists are in all their glory, and Harper’s Bazaar UK has gotten the proverbial ball rolling.
According to their higher powers, the Best Dressed Woman of the Year goes out to Carey Mulligan (the lovely and talented pixie-haired actress) and frankly, nobody’s surprised. As explained by judge and fashion designer Ederm Moralioglu, Ms. Mulligan is “so sixties French new wave – like a Godard starlet, but totally modern” – a point we can’t help but agree with, considering the British actress has hit nearly every look out of the park over the past 12 months.
However, in a recent interview Carey admitted she wasn’t particularly phased about her place on fashion’s throne: “I don’t really care that much about fashion, I just have a brilliant stylist who dresses me, and in my own life, I’m pretty simple. So that side of things has been wearing.” (So technically, it’s her stylist that should take the award?)
Among the other fashionably inclined were vocalist supreme Florence Welch, supermodel Kate Moss and Mrs. Chris Martin herself, Gwyneth Paltrow – also not surprising since each hones a particularly notable fashion sense.
Now the real question of the hour – who’s going to top Vogue?
