Comic-Con fans got a surprise on Thursday when Angelina Jolie showed up! Instead of the usual nerdy-esque comic book loving attendees, this year’s Comic-Con has seen an array of Hollywood stars, Angelina Jolie just being the icing on the cake for many.
Clad in a Versace leather jacket, the actress joined a panel to talk about her latest flick Salt (which is kicking butt in the box office this weekend!), with 7,000 of her fans.
Salt is “a better action movie than any I’ve done in the past,” she told fans on Thursday. That is quite the statement, considering Jolie’s resume full of action-flicks.
The movie, in which Jolie plays a CIA agent accused of being a Russian spy, was originally intended for Tom Cruise. However, Tom turned it down, giving Jolie the opening to slide right in. She explained why the role was perfect for her.
“There’s a real duplicity to her personality,” she said. “There’s a part of her that’s not necessarily a good guy, and because of certain things that happened to her, she’s a bit damaged. She’s not just heroic. She’s not even. She’s not just brave. There’s something a little off about her, and maybe there’s something off about me.”
To top off the surprises, Jolie told fans that she performed most of her own stunts in Salt, giving details on some of her injuries. “I thought I’d had a concussion,” she said of one particular stunt. “But I had forgotten that I had my earplugs in from [shooting] the gun!” she said.
Well, it’s good to know that even a woman like Angelina has her ditzy moments. It definitely seems like she puts on quite the show in Salt though. What did you think of her performance in the action flick?
