Editor’s Picks: Sayuki Custom Cosmetics

What is my number one problem when it comes to makeup? Finding a shade that matches my skin tone!

I know a lot of you out there deal with this. I am half Italian and half Indian and it is fair to say I have a pretty unique skin tone. Even if you are not mixed race, many cosmetic lines don’t have enough diversity in tones. The colour of our skin is almost as unique as a finger print, everyone is different!

Finally, there is a solution. Brand new to Canada, Sayuki cosmetics has come to the rescue. Available exclusively at Holt Renfrew’s Bloor Street Toronto location (they have plans to expand to other locations), Sayuki is a revolutionary (yes, really) colour-match system that allows customers to create their own custom foundations and concealers. They use a scanning device that finds the exact colour of each individual’s skin composition and uses that information to create a formulation.

Sayuki Machine

I visited the Sayuki counter at Holt Renfrew to try it out for myself. I was blown away with how quickly the process took. After a quick scan of my cheek, the camera sent a computer my skin tone (a combination of red, black, yellow and white) and after choosing my foundation coverage (from full, medium and light), it sent that information to the machine which creates your product in only three minutes. Within ten minutes I was walking out the door with a product made uniquely for me. They also give you a bar code so that if you want to order more you can do so online without doing the scanning process again. And if you get a tan or become paler in the winter, you can go in for adjustments! They truly thought of everything.

Not only is my new foundation a perfect match, I really love the feel of it on my skin. I went for full coverage, but the product doesn’t feel cakey. In fact, the foundation goes on very smooth and is incredibly hydrating! Goodbye orange streaks, hello beautiful skin.

Go and get scanned today and let me know what you think!
