Although some of the cheesy pick-up lines that guys try out on Tinder are hilariously entertaining, the truth is, most of them are just plain annoying or even downright creepy. If only there was a way we could avoid falling victim to such horrible attempts at courtship.
Enter Bumble, a Tinder-esque dating app that completely puts the ball in the girl’s court. It uses the familiar swipe left or right method to make matches but the catch is that once a match is made, the onus is on the lady to make the first move.
If you have ever had one of those moments where you lock eyes with a cutie across the room but are disappointed in the waiting game that leaves you wondering, Why hasn’t he come over to talk to me yet? then you might want to check out this app.
Unlike other dating apps, Bumble’s unique feature makes it so that men can’t be the first one to send a message “ it must be the woman that starts the conversation. Upping the ante even more is the time limitation that requires you to send that first message within 24 hours of matching. Once time runs out, the match disappears forever. So ladies, there’s no room for slacking here! If you want this guy, it’s up to you to go for it.
Bumble was developed by Whitney Wolfe, ex co-founder of Tinder who decided that the world of e-dating would do well with a little more equality between the sexes. The app launched in December 2014 with the intention of pushing women out of their comfort zone while simultaneously taking the pressure off of men.
And so far, this role reversal has been well-received. The app already has over hundreds of thousands of users and is growing every week. Even though in the past it has been considered unusual and even desperate for women to be the initiator, this app shows that those ideas are becoming more and more outdated.
Gone are the days of passive women! Even if you aren’t naturally a take-charge kind of chick, this app is worth considering.
For one thing, you can more easily avoid the bombardment of unwanted creepy messages from dudes with less than honourable intentions.
What’s more, you are able to start the conversation on your terms. By having the first word, you can set the tone for the entire conversation and let this guy know right from the start exactly what kind of girl you are and what kind of relationship you’re looking for.
Plus, confidence is sexy! Bumble helps shy girls break out of their shells, which will make you even more swipe-right-worthy than you already are.
