Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal broke up before many people even knew they were dating.
The two reportedly called it quits about a month ago, but spending New Year’s apart was what raised the alarm.
Swift, a Nashville native, spent the night at a party in her hometown. Gyllenhaal rang in 2011 in New York.
Both are keeping quiet about why they’ve broken up, and neither of their reps has released a statement.
Swift and Gyllenhaal never officially confirmed their relationship, but were first spotted together backstage at Saturday Night Live in October. They met for brunch in Brooklyn the next day.
And from then on, it wasn’t a secret. The two spent Thanksgiving together and basically fuelled the coffee industry in November with their frequent caffeine fixes.
It’s a shame, but the age difference would have been a hurdle. They’re both at completely different stages in their lives right now.
