Star Sightings at TIFF!

With the first day of TIFF officially behind us, the list of “stars to see” has only increased, with sightings of Adrian Grenier (courtesy of Blue Jays’ catcher JP Arencibia’s Twitter), Scott Speedman, Thierry Guetta, Juliette Lewis and Sarah Polley already under all gossip sites’ belts.

So who can you hope to catch over the next nine days? Let’s be honest: the list is growing.

Kicking off TIFF 2011 with the premiere of From the Sky Down last night, was Bono on the red carpet (who was answering questions about a movie easily about a band on the brink of self-destruction) while Geoffery Rush was seen outside of the Scotiabank Theatre for what we can only assume was an evening screening of Crazy Stupid Love (we hope).

But that’s not it.

As the days go forward, the likes of Elisabeth Shue, Hayden Christensen and Madonna will be seen roaming our Toronto streets, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Carey Mulligan will be hitting both the red carpet and the downtown for TIFF promotion (and hopefully good old-fashioned wining and dining).

And then there’s the creme de la creme: promoting The Descendants on Saturday night is George Clooney (so you can rest assured that the actor-formerly-known-as-an-ER-lead will be seen somewhere between the Gardiner and North York), while Ryan Gosling will be re-visiting the Great White North to support the action-drama, Ride. Add Brad Pitt, Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes to the mix, and you’re only one camera snap away from capturing the best few seconds of your life.

So our suggestions for star sightings? Stick to Yorkville’s few blocks, as well as “hip” west end hotspots like The Drake Hotel and The Gladstone. You may run the risk of competing with fellow star seekers, but at least you’ll face odds very much in your favour.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
