Shakira is Pregnant!

Shakira is pregnant with her first child! The singer announced yesterday and she and her boyfriend, soccer player Gerard Pique, 25, are expecting a child together.

Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby, the 35-year-old wrote on her website. We have decided to give priority to this unique moment and postpone promotional activities.

Shakira was expected to perform in Las Vegas this upcoming weekend, but has since cancelled the appearance.

I wonder if this news will have an affect on her recently announced spot as coach on the next season of The Voice. Shakira is set to temporarily replace Christina Aguilera for a season or two while Christina pursues other aspects of her career.

This will be the first child for both Shakira and Gerard. There is no word yet on how far along Shakira’s pregnancy is or when she will be due.
