Look out, blogosphere “ there’s a new Material Girl, and she goes by the name of Lourdes Leon. That’s right, Madonna, the original Queen of Pop, has raised a fashion-conscious, well-accessorized and 80s-oriented child, and in celebration of the fashion line she co-launched with Madge, Lourdes has posted her first blog entry on the Material Girl website.
However, unlike the teenage blogs that would make most of us cringe (not that there’s anything wrong with teenagers, but we all know it feels like eons since we could relate to them), the fashion ingé©nue is ahead of her time (and not in the Miley Cyrus sense of the word).
Raving about fashion, the band My Chemical Romance and what she’s looking forward to on her birthday, Lourdes does read like a soon-to-be-14-year-old, but still offers some fashion insight: I am totally obsessivo about 80’s shorts . . . You know the kind that make your butt look kinda big, with a grunge-looking shirt tucked in. It’s kinda nerdy, but I love it. And the 80’s are another huge obsession of mine, which is totally amazingly awesome because Material Girl . . . HELLO!
Hello, indeed. No, she’s not exactly a Pullitzer-nominated writer-in-training (and yes, she’s clearly a hipster), but the fact that she’s Madonna’s daughter (and a co-fashion line designer) makes her pretty cool in my books. The best part? From what everyone’s seen, the fashion line’s actually good “ meaning that capital letters and the use of the word obsessivo can be overlooked.
