You can bash the reality show, The Hills, as much as you want, but you can’t bash the opportunities that have arisen for its stars. Lauren Conrad, in particular is paving a pretty bright future for herself. LC’s latest conquest? Columnist for Forbes magazine.
The 25-year-old is listed as a celebrity entrepreneur. The Hills darling will start off as a columnist for the digital version of the reputable magazine. She’ll share her insight on fashion, style, and the ups and downs of being a workingwoman on the go “ all things she’s more than familiar with.
Sure, some might brush this accomplishment aside, saying she’s just another reality TV castoff, but Conrad says she has earned everything she’s gotten because of hard work and dedication. By now, she feels she has earned the right to be taken seriously.
“I run two clothing lines, two Web sites and a book franchise on top of directly managing my brand and endorsement deals,” she wrote in her debut column on the Forbes website. “I’ve made a career out of allowing cameras to capture my personal life but that doesn’t make me ‘just another reality star’ looking to start a clothing line.”
This reality star, turned New York Times best seller, turned fashion guru and style icon has the drive of a multi-millionaire, and just may become one someday.
The business-savvy beauty isn’t the only one excited about the deal, Forbes couldn’t be happier to have her on board.
Lauren’s jump from celebrity to entrepreneur puts her on the same trajectory as many a bright-eyed instant cover girl, but whether she can channel her persona into an enduring commercial tour de force remains to be seen, said Forbes writer, Jane Lee.
Between juggling the manuscript of her 5th novel, heading and designing for two clothing lines “ LC by Lauren Conrad and Paper Crown “ and running a fashion website, what can’t this Hollywood it girl do? We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
