Well here's something you certainly don't hear every day: in celebration of Playboy's 60th anniversary, and Kate Moss' 40th birthday, the model will be on the January/February cover. That's some big news.
The collaboration (sure!) was rumoured in June, but nothing was confirmed until recently when Playboy's editorial director, Jimmy Jellinek talked to the Los Angeles Times.
"This is a massive global brand," he said. "You need a global icon in order to celebrate that — that was the impetus. You're talking about the face of Burberry, the biggest supermodel in the world on the cover of Playboy. She's the perfect partner for us to help launch the next 60 years. …It started with Marilyn Monroe on the cover of Playboy 60 years ago, an icon of her time. Now we've got Kate Moss!"
"She's a worldwide celebrity," added Hefner. "Is iconic, and crosses the boundaries from sexual imagery to upscale modelling. It's a natural for us."
This is actually the second time this week Playboy's made headlines. On Monday, the brand was associated with "PartyWithPlayboy.com" which listed Playboy's supposed new anti-rape college guide. It was amazing! It was terrific! It, sadly, was nothing actually Playboy-related at all — the website was its own entitity, separate from the magazine. But wouldn't that have been cool? Kate Moss, if you're reading this, ask that they print one in the issue you're commemorating.
