After slipping into her six-zero seven mere months after giving birth to Benjamin Rein, it’s not surprising Gisele Bundchen has become the envy of many new mothers. Her latest comments are winning her new favours, and have caused controversy throughout the mothering and medical communities.
After boasting about the painless waterbirth of her son (ahem, yeah right), Gisele has taken to Harper’s Bazaar to offer more advice to new mothers.
Some people here think they don’t have to breastfeed and I think, ˜Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?’ There should be a worldwide law ¦ that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months she told the magazine.
Needless to say, breastfeeding already being a sensitive subject, that there’s been a massive backlash against the model’s statement. Angry readers have taken to blogs, forums and comment boards to post their disapproval.
This woman needs to get real. It’s up to each mother to decide whether or not she wants to breastfeed. Who is she to preach about what other people should be doing? wrote one angry reader.
Mrs. Tom Brady was quick to backpedal, posting on her blog this PR manipulated “ we mean, heartfelt statement:
My intention in making a comment about the importance of breastfeeding has nothing to do with the law. It comes from my passion and beliefs about children¦I understand that everyone has their own experience and opinions and I am not here to judge she writes.
How do you feel about Gisele’s comments. Would you take her advice?
