I mean, look. Did any of us think that a 37-year-old successful actor would stay single forever?
Yes. Of course we did. What the hell do you think this is? Until they meet us, all actors are doomed to walk lonely and sad, waiting for the minute we look into their eyes and give them new meaning and a reason to live.
Or, they end up marrying people they know like normal humans, and we're left to pretend we totally expected it. (BECAUSE I SO DID, YOU GUYS.)
So that being said, it's official: Benedict Cumberbatch, the world's most eligible bachelor, is getting married. And not just is he getting married, he announced it in the newspaper like the old-timey soul that he is.
"Mr. B.T. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter," The Times announcement begins. "The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katherine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London."
And that's about it. The two worked together on 2009's "Burlesque Fairytales" and she's a boss-ass theatre director, which makes sense because Cumberbatch is a theatre dude. (Guy is starring in Hamlet early next year.)
So congratulations, you guys! And I'm sorry everyone who is sad. It will be fine. We'll make it through this together, I swear.
