Now that New York and London Fashion Weeks have come to a close, the rumour mill’s spinning: this time, about Derek Lam leaving his post as creative director of Tod’s.
Having held the position for the last six years, WWD reports that Derek Lam has made his exit – although neither Tod’s or Derek has confirmed it.
According to Elle UK, Derek Lam is reportedly gearing up to focus on his eponymous collection after grabbing the attention of Anne Hatahway and Gwyneth Paltrow to the Italian fashion house. He also recently launched a bridge line, that sources say will not be affected by his departure from Tod’s.
However, this is hardly the first change in the fashion house line-up: recently, Stefano Pilati has left YSL, Raf Simmons has left Jil Sander, and Derek Lam rounds out the rule of three. (Is there something in the water?)
Regardless – and either way – we can likely look forward to an “official” announcement soon. And with his own eponymous collection consistently gaining momentum, we’ll probably only hear more about Derek Lam as time goes on.
